My Advice!

Meditation is very useful. What actually happens I am going to avoid saying. There is a special reason for this. It would seem the practical experience of meditation can already be an ordinary part of people's lives, perhaps without knowing it. There is likely to be many times when taking a break at work, waiting for a train or sitting in the park that there have been moments of an indescribable nature. Then there are all those poignant moments which arise in reading, in conversation, and with companions.

wildflowers Our interest in meditation may be the same inspiration which brings us to do any activity, like playing tennis or football or swimming. What we are able to exercise in co-ordination, control, power and achievement, gives us a sense of well-being. Activities like dancing also tend to bring out the extra dimension of rhythm. In sport, athletics, and the martial arts, such as boxing and kung fu, incorporate the physical activity into competition. The best exponents of these have grace and agility and exhibit an utter sense of the sublime in motion.

Essentially we can think of meditation as all of this, without the effort. This is not to say physical exercise might not reach moments of spiritual intimacy and soulful perfection. However, the intention of any of the modes of contemplation is to actually abide in these states.
